Yellow Jackets vs. Six Pack Jackets Kill Their Winless Streak Ends In a game where the lead changed several times, the Jackets found themselves the shootout victor. Every time the Jackets took the lead in this game, they gave it back only seconds later. The Jackets found themselves down by two late in the game until Jim Antoine's wrister from the top of the circle found the high glove side to pull the game within one. With less than 2 minutes to play, the Jackets found themselves with a powerplay. A line change was made and the right players must of been chosen, because the Jackets struck less than ten seconds into the man advantage. A rare faceoff win for the Jackets by Tanner Finnan was scooped up by Kevin Fogarty who went D to D with Jim Antoine. Antoine's shot was tipped in front by Allan LaRobardier, on for the pulled goaltender. The goalie fought off the deflection but the rebound found Matt Desomma's stick who made sure the puck found the nearly empty net, knotting the score at 5. The surprisingly strong line of Red Akai, Tak Yawata and John Damato closed out regulation for the Jackets in a draw. In the ensuing shootout, Matt Rovetto was able to close the door on all 3 Six Pack shooters, because in shootouts, rebounds do not count. Tanner Finnan scored the lone shootout goal, ceasing the Jackets winless streak at 6. The game showed a much better effort from the Jackets, something they must build on to salvage the rapidly passing season. |
