Jackets Beat Themselves With Help From the Bulls

Once again, missing 5 skaters, the ten Jackets were suprised to see that they had the advantage of 4 more skaters than the 3-0 Bulls. In a game for first place, the Jackets seemed poised to use that advantage against them.

The Jackets struck first, With Mike Wolf putting home a rebound of a Frank Perrone shot. Then Vinnie DeGenarro put home a scrum in front to give the Jackets a commanding 2-0 lead. Then the Jackets started giving the game away. A bad pass here, a turnover there, forgetting to clear the zone, trying to make moves over the other teams blue line....blah blah blah. It was a clinic on how not to play proper hockey, as the Bulls seemed to take advantage of every Jacket miscue and brain fart.

By the second period, the Jackets were down 4-2. Early in the second, Chris Sisco won a faceoff clean to Allan LaRobardier, who's shot pass was redirected over the goaltender by Sisco, who had fought his way to the front of the net, cutting the lead in half. Soon later, Tanner Finnan finished off a play aided by Matt Desomma and Neil Skorka to even up the game. Onto the third...

The third started even and hard played, dispite the empty bench for the Bulls. Then the Jackets got back to their flawed play, giving the puck away and handing the Bulls clean shots on Matt Rovetto. He was beaten two more times, once shorthanded, to give the Bulls a 6-4 lead which the Jackets could not overcome. If the Jackets have high hopes for this season, they have to play better than that.
